UPDATED: Mugging Last Night in Inwood's Isham Park: Call to Action

A source tells me that there was a mugging in Isham Park last night at around 11 pm. A resident of the Park Terrace area was walking his dog and was attacked by a group of "kids" in the park. According to this source, there were several witnesses, the victim was taken to the hospital and the police were called to the scene of the crime. I am now waiting for a call back from the 34th Precinct for more information about the attack. 

All of this to say that those residents concerned about safety in the park and all throughout Inwood would be smart to attend next Wednesday's 34th Precinct Council meeting or sign up to volunteer for the Nightlife Committee. A friend is also looking into beginning a Neighborhood Watch program. More information to come. Please send an email or leave a comment if you are interested in getting involved.

Inwood Hell: Post Office This Morning

The line at 9:07 a.m. Two windows were open.

On Saturday I received one of my most dreaded items in the mail: a notice about an attempted package delivery stating I need to come into the post office to pick it up. Even before the new post office hours were instated I have used everything in my power to avoid that office, but sometimes the deed just has to be done.  And this is what I found, a crazy long line minutes after the office opened and two workers manning the station. I am fortunate enough to have a flexible workplace that allows me to come in late, but for someone who does not have that blessing this situation is untenable. I am not the only one who has complaints about the Inwood post office. So, what to do? What to do Inwood?
